Touch Typing Training on QWERTY keyboard

Here in this post you will know how the touch typing training help you make your typing fast. Touch typing is a method to type efficiently.

Know the QWERTY layout

The QWERTY keyboard layout is one of the most widely used keyboard configurations for English-language typewriters and computer keyboards. It was designed in the 1870s by Christopher Latham Sholes, an American newspaper editor, and printer who patented the typewriter along with Samuel Soule and Carlos Glidden.

The name "QWERTY" comes from the first six letters in the top row of the keyboard, read from left to right. This layout was created to address mechanical limitations in early typewriters, which were prone to jamming when typing too quickly. The QWERTY design aimed to reduce the likelihood of adjacent keys being pressed in rapid succession, thereby preventing typewriter jams.

The layout places the most frequently used letters of the English language on the home row (the middle row of keys), allowing for faster typing. However, despite its popularity, some critics argue that the QWERTY layout may not be the most efficient for modern digital keyboards because it was originally designed for mechanical typewriters.

In response to this concern, alternative keyboard layouts such as Dvorak and Colemak have been developed, offering improved typing speed and reduced finger movement. Nonetheless, QWERTY remains the dominant keyboard layout in most countries, and people are generally familiar with it due to its historical legacy and widespread adoption.

The W, S, and X these keys should be pressed by the ring finger of your left hand, and E, D, and C using the middle finger of your left hand. And R, F, V, T, G, & B these six keys must be hit by the index finger of your left hand.

On the other side, use the index finger of your right hand to hit Y, H, N, U, J, & M these six keys. Use the middle finger of the right hand to press the I, K, and (,) comma keys. The O, L, & (.) full stop key should be pressed by the ring finger of your right hand. Lastly, use your right-hand small finger to hit the P, (;) semicolon key, and (/) front slash.

Use your thumb to press the space bar. You may use any of your thumbs to hit the space bar. To capitalize letters, use the shift key, as using the caps-lock will take longer and reduce the overall typing speed.

How long should you practice? It depends on how long you can practice, but it should be at least an hour a day. Try to make a schedule and practice for at least an hour a day for at least three months to get a fruitful result.
